Learn to slice your knitting open with Pru Raymond. Explore techniques for finished, unfinished and sandwiched steeks and develop insights about when to use which one. Leave the class with confidence to modify existing garments and undertake stranded colourwork projects that require steeking.
Materials Required
- 4 mm, 80cm circular knitting needle or DPNs
- 2 x 50g balls of 8ply/DK yarn in solid/ semi solid colours with a high contrast (ie. one white/ very light coloured yarn and one or mid- dark coloured yarn) such as Superwash DK
- Notions: wool needle, stitch markers, scissors.
Homework Required
2 x stranded colourwork swatches, using two colours of DK on 4 mm circular needle with 80cm circumference or DPNs, worked in the round (instructions will be emailed to participants).
Skill Level
This workshop is suitable for intermediate to advanced knitters who want to learn how to steek their knitting, including multiple ways to reinforce and finish the steeked edge. In order to complete the homework, there is an expectation that you can independently read a Fair Isle/ colourwork chart and knit two stranded colourwork swatches in the round.
