Knitting With Cotton

Like knitting all year round, but find wool a bit hard to knit in the warmer weather? Have you tried knitting with cotton?

Cotton is a lovely soft fibre to knit, and can be used to knit anything from dishcloths to jumpers. It is lightweight and machine washable, and makes a great alternative to wool, especially for those people who find wool itchy. And it can be knitted and worn all year round.

We have recently started stocking Debbie Bliss cotton yarn, with three lines available:

Eco-baby (plain and prints)
This is a lightweight DK organic cotton yarn, perfect for young sensitive skins. You can see what we have available here . And just look at this very cute hat and booties knitted in one of the printed yarns!

Cotton DK
slightly thicker than a double knit yarn, it knits up quickly, and is perfect for garments and homewares. You can see what we have available here

Cotton Denim DK
as the name suggests, this yarn has a denim-like appearance, and comes in soft blues and pastels. The sampler below shows how it knits up. You can see we have available here

We are currently researching other cotton yarns for possible addition to our range. If you have any suggestions on colour or brand we are happy for suggestions
