This is the first of an irregular series featuring specific fabrics. Wendy has chosen our first fabric, and writes:
"There are a lot of fabulous fabrics in store at the moment, so it was a difficult task to select one for the feature fabric. My choice is one of our more recent additions. This Japanese cotton/linen fabric has a unique weave, which creates a cream spot on the front and interwoven cream and caramel threads on the reverse. I enjoy the challenge of using both sides of a reversible fabric for the perfect mix and match in a project.
Yarn Dyed Spot (Duck Egg) is a blend of cotton (85%) and linen (15%) with a slightly washed finished which makes it a very comfortable easy care fabric and would make the perfect choice for use in many of the independent pattern brands. For example the Merchant & Mills Strand Coat.
I could not resist making up a sample child's garment from one of our Japanese children's pattern books, 'Linen, Wool, Cotton kids' by Akiko Mano (currently out of stock but hopefully more due soon). I chose the 'Sailor Collar pullover top'.
Now to knit up some of our beautiful soft yarns like Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino (colours shown are Clotted cream and Grey Mist) or Debbie Bliss Eco Baby Print, a variegated cotton yarn, for the perfect co-ordinating piece!"
